Nanologica is a privately held enterprise. It is the world’s leading developer of mesoporous materials; in particular nanoporous silica based materials for the loading and controlled release of actives, applicable in industries such as food science, drug delivery and cosmetics. It operates through collaborative development projects with companies from these different industries.

In 2010 Nanologica spun out two companies, NLAB Bioscience and NLAB Solar. NLAB Bioscience exploits Nanologica´s nanoporous materials in the pharmaceutical and biotechnological business areas, with an initial focus on drug delivery applications. NLAB Solar is focused on the development and commercialization of new materials enhancing the efficiency of solar cells.

Nanologica has established key partnerships with strong technology partners such as the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Uppsala University and the Institute of Surface Chemistry (YKI).

Nanologica also holds an extensive portfolio of intellectual property in areas covering nanoporous materials, processes for manufacturing nanoporous materials and applications of porous materials as drug delivery vehicles, diagnostic devices, sensors and dye-sensitized solar cells.

Nanologica has worked on several European research projects such as dendreamers, nanoimmune, orchid and nanosustain.

The company has been profitable since 2008, and has grown to have 13 employees as of 2012. Nanologica continues to engage in the research and development of mesoporous materials towards commercial applications and plans to invest in spinout businesses that will bring its products to the market.
